When we laid eyes on this stunning apartment from Sydney-based designer Greg Natale, we were immediately smitten. The gorgeous, delicate spaces feel like a dream, but ample use of black furniture, stone finishes, and modern detailing keep the home grounded. We’re treating this space as a study in good taste, so if you’re also digging this feminine, modern style, here are ways to get a similar look in your own home.
A limited palette of black, grey, and blue tones allow the lines and details of the lighting, furniture, and accessories to become the focus. As seen here, include gold, brass, and crystal touches to break up the monotony and add a hint of sparkle.

This homeowner is lucky enough to own several iconic pieces, including a Warren Platner lounge chair, a Dorothy Draper chest, and a Saarinen tulip table. We may not all have the chance to have such enviable items, but one or two classic pieces scored on eBay or at the flea market will inject a collected, sophisticated vibe into any space.

In theory, the green cabinetry and paneling in the kitchen may seem out of place, but in life, this unexpected element is a perfect fit. The unusual color choice is balanced by the glamorous gray-veined marble on the counter and backsplash. The classic crown moulding and black and white floor keep the small space timeless and sophisticated. Include a similar surprising moment in your home by opting for a bold color in your powder room or even the interior of a closet. Just make sure the underlying elements of these small spaces are still in keeping with the rest of your home’s style.

To prevent the home from becoming too formal and delicate, Natale opted to incorporate bold patterns through wallpaper, area rugs, and accent fabrics. Use of David Hicks’s iconic hexagon pattern and Kelly Wearstler fabrics on throw pillows and dining chairs, inject life into the rooms and add a sense of whimsy. When decorating your own spaces, take a step back every once in awhile. If things are getting too stuffy and serious, a bold pattern will make things more lively.

Stone busts, inlaid boxes, and sculptural accessories introduce not only a variety of materials, but inject texture and personality into these rooms. Add dimension to your space by incorporating accessories that are not only meaningful to you, but will enhance your home’s overall décor. Don’t be afraid to edit — sometimes less is more!
