This past weekend, Ikea pushed the boundaries of glamour to new heights with its booth at the 2014 Interior Design Show in Canada. A sharp departure from its signature Scandinavian modern look, the Swedish brand took inspiration from 18th century France, mixing classical wall paneling and antiques with high-gloss wardrobe doors, stainless steel hoods, and more.
The booth was divided into three spaces: a foyer, a kitchen, and a bathroom/dressing room. The kitchen was outfitted with the brand’s newest door style, LIDINGÖ gray, an open fireplace, and stunning Venetian crystal chandeliers. Meanwhile, the romantic dressing room featured a GODMORGON high gloss white sink vanity and a full wall of PAX wardrobes, with a wall full of gold tiles amping up the glam factor.Needless to say, we had a total “I can’t believe it’s Ikea,” moment when we saw it. It’s no surprise the retailer took home the show’s coveted Gold Booth Award for the best design!
