We saw it: the light at the end of the tunnel. So, we're suffering from a serious case of obsession over this Clements Design
living room. With its bright-white base, carefully curated color palette, and eclectic accents, it's the perfect place to say goodbye to the dark days of winter and welcome the sunny days of spring. Here are a few tips to get the look:
A lacquered white floor may not be the most practical thing, but it sure does look good. When paired with white walls and a white ceiling, light reflects off every surface and the room appears to glow from within. Brighten up your space with a coat of "Decorators White"
from Benjamin Moore, the brightest white around. If you're feeling bold, spill some onto those floors, too.
Once your lightbox of white is created, begin layering shades of grey (50 if you so choose). Here, Clements begins with a light-grey granite fireplace surround, a heather grey wingback chair, and the lightest of grey sofas. When sticking to one color, a range of shades is important: go from darkest to lightest. Here, a dark warm-grey rug anchors the room.
A room as light and bright as this is no place for mahogany or walnut. No, dark woods aren't welcome here. Instead, opt for whitewashed wood pieces like the coffee table duo and tall hutch. The finish still offers the warmth of wood but is certifiably fresh.
